Recolor a rug design, one color at a time

How does it work?

Color Changer finds the colors in your rug design and lets you change each one: pick any color, tap one from a palette, or shuffle them at random. Take a photo of your yarn cones to build a palette of the colors you actually have. Shading inside a color is kept, and the result saves at the size you loaded.

  1. Drop in, paste or pick your rug design.
  2. Tap a color in the strip, or tap it on your rug design.
  3. Choose its new color, then save your rug design as a PNG.
What kind of image works best?

A rug design, or any flat art with a small number of distinct colors. Photos have too many colors to pick apart this way. It works just as well on a logo or an illustration.

Does the saved image lose quality?

No. The PNG is saved at the same pixel size as the image you loaded.

Can I undo a change?

Yes. Ctrl or Cmd with Z undoes, adding Shift redoes, and any color can be reset to its original.

Can I use my own yarn colors?

Yes. On the Palette tab, tap From photo and take a picture of your cones. Color Changer picks out their colors and keeps them as a palette on your device, ready to tap onto your design.

Where do my files go?
